In a recent interview for the High Frequency Trading Review, Kay Swinburne, Conservative MEP for Wales, answers a number of questions regarding the recent consultation paper around the wide-ranging MiFID Review (MiFID II).

She covers a range of topics in the interview, sharing her thoughts on the length of the consultation period, the extent of the Review itself and whether it is maybe too wide-reaching, the timetable leading up to new regulations being implemented, which elements of the Review may or may not make it into the draft legislation, how the Review will affect high frequency and algorithmic trading, the UK Foresight project looking at computer trading in financial markets, the inclusion of G20 proposals around cross-Atlantic clearing, the possible disenfranchising of the EU as a financial services centre, the impact on the buy-side and much more.
